Learning Environment

Inside an elementary classroom, you’ll notice students are actively engaged in a wide range of activities. Elementary students at CCA benefit from the following:

Engaging Student Experience

No time is wasted in the elementary classroom. Age-appropriate learning activities promote curiosity and an enthusiasm for new ideas and challenges. Homework is relevant, screen time is limited, and students enjoy project-based opportunities that accelerate growth.

Character Growth and Discipleship

Teachers mentor students to help them grow in their faith. Your child will participate in Gathering, our Bible class and devotional time, and service learning initiatives. Our dedicated Educators and Homeroom Shepherds model Christ-centered values to help prepare students to live God-glorifying lives.

Personalized Attention

Parents don’t have to worry about their kids getting lost in the crowd. Class sizes are kept small with a 12:2 student-teacher ratio in grades 1-2 and a 14:2 ratio in grades 3-5. We also encourage meaningful partnerships with parents in our community through class parents and our Parent Teacher Fellowship.

At CCA, every student has something to contribute. Your child will be encouraged and challenged to grow as they connect academic concepts to the world around them.

Key Distinctives

From kindergarten to high school, we teach from a biblical worldview. That means everything we do is designed to help students understand the world in light of God’s Word.

The elementary school core curriculum includes:

English Language Arts

Students participate in guided reading groups to help improve fluency and comprehension. Teachers measure your child’s reading progress during private sessions. Quality read-aloud time encourages deeper thinking and enhances comprehension.

Math

In Grades 1-5, students develop a deeper understanding of key math concepts such as order, numeration, patterning, estimation, and classification. As they solve problems and complete projects, students develop important life skills, including perseverance, creative thinking, and the ability to express and defend their reasoning.

Science

Students apply scientific and engineering practices through hands-on activities to address local and global challenges. During investigative labs, students transition to more independent activities, where they test hypotheses, make observations, and collect and interpret data.

Social Studies

We provide students with the opportunity to make connections between what they are learning in class and the world around them. Areas of focus include American history, geography, economics, civics, and government, focusing on the traits of a responsible citizen.

In addition to our core curriculum, students take World Language and Culture, Art, Music, and PE.

During our Gathering time, students learn more about God through Bible reading, songs, and prayer. Homeroom Shepherds guide students through the story of creation, fall, redemption, and restoration.

“This school stands out among the rest due to many reasons but one in particular is the unique academic environment they have created. Not only is learning fun because it’s hands-on and experiential, but the way in which the teachers seek to know, challenge, and advocate for the students is unparalleled. Plus, the spiritual vitality, biblical theology, and discipleship that runs throughout every class and every grade is palpable and unparalleled.”

Safety

We understand that safety is a top priority for parents when considering schools.

We’ve made significant investments to keep your child safe at CCA. This commitment starts with safety measures that include locked doors, surveillance cameras, and a security officer and sheriff’s deputy on campus at all times.

Your family will find CCA a welcoming environment where the faculty and staff model healthy relationships based on biblical standards and practices.
